Overhang Support
When extending your peninsula or island more than 12" past the cabinet,
it will be necessary to support the overhang.
12 - 15" overhangs require some underlying support. Corbels or brackets,
usually made of wood or metal, need to be half as long as the overhang. Shown
is a wood corbel.
Overhangs of 15" or more require support to the floor. Shown here are
corbels that support the top by distributing the weight to the floor.
