Overhang Support
When extending your peninsula or island 12 - 15" past cabinet support, it
will be necessary to support the overhang with brackets.
Corbels or brackets, usually made of wood
or metal, need to be half as long as the overhang. Shown here is a wooden
corbel.
Corbels or brackets should be placed on a
bracket plate and spaced 24" apart to evenly distribute weight.
Overhangs that exceed 15" require support to the floor.
