Installation Mistakes
Uneven Cabinets
It is important to make sure the cabinets or surface that
your Corinthian™ Countertop will be covering is even and level.
Check each surface before installation with a level and straight edge
to ensure a professional looking finish and ensure future damage will
not occur to your tops. The cabinets must be adjusted to level or the
Corinthian™ Countertop must be shimmed to a level position.
Failure to do so could possibly damage your tops and void the
warranty.
Warped Countertops
Corinthian™ solid surface is made from 100% acrylic
material and not susceptible to the same factors natural wood products
are to warping. However other factors can cause the material to warp
or cup. It is important to let the material acclimate to proper room
temperature for at least 24 hours before unpackaging and installing.
In addition Corinthian™ must be stored in a vertical position
and not horizontal for any extended period of time. Warping can be
corrected by laying the solid surface on the level cabinet. You can
also use weight or screw from the bottom side to hold in place until
the silicone caulk cures. Once the caulk is cured the tops will be held
in place.
Improper Seam Alignment
All seams are prefit and sanded before leaving our facility.
During installation please dry fit the seam before applying the
silicone caulk to ensure a joint fits properly on your cabinets. The
biscuits will align the two surfaces but some minor adjustments might
be required. Once the caulk is applied and the joint is fastened
together, check the joint for any high or low spots. Correct these
with pressure and use a clamp or weight until the caulk has cured.
Heat Tape for Cooktops
It is important that the edges of the cut out for the cooktop
have a heat resistant tape applied to prevent damage. We will apply
the tape so please make sure it is in place when the cooktop is
installed. If the tape is removed or not in place it could possibly
void your warranty.
Acclimation to Indoor Temp
Corinthian™ solid surface must be allowed to acclimate
to a heated room temperature. If cold or overly warm solid surface is
installed the potential risk of damage and warping is increased
significantly. Cold solid surface is brittle and will have a tendency
to chip or break as well as distort and warp. It is extremely
important to store on edge and allow warming or cooling to room
temperature.
